The Artist as Storyteller
Guest Speaker: Barbara Walker, Princeton Art Museum Docent

Throughout history, artists have used art to share a visual narrative of the world.

This virtual lecture will center on works of art from Princeton University Art Museum’s collection that connect to the art of storytelling: how artists have depicted stories to interpret narrative in their own mediums and how museum items relate to the practice of the intersection of art and story.

Our speaker, Barbara Walker began training as a docent for the Princeton University Art Museum, but then came Covid and during that time the museum was torn down. A new building is being constructed on the same site scheduled to open in 2025. Previously, Barbara served as a docent at Grounds for Sculpture where she guided tours of sculptures with mythological connections. A former high school teacher, she taught courses in The Hero in Literature, the Journey in Literature, and Art in Literature to name a few.
